Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Manchester City and their plan to hand Phil Foden a brand new contract.

Foden has proven himself to be one of City’s best players over the past 12 months, and the Manchester club are ready to reward his good form with a new deal.

The journalist states that Foden already has a long-term deal, but the reigning Premier League champions are ready to open talks over new and seemingly improved terms.

What’s been said?

Romano gave an update on Foden.

“He has a long-term contract, but Manchester City, they want to plan for a new contract for Phil Foden. They consider him an untouchable player. Pep Guardiola loves Phil Foden and they’re going to talk to Foden in the coming weeks and months about a new contract. It’s not agreed or advanced yet, but they’re planning to talk about it with Phil Foden,” Romano said.

Best move City could make

Manchester City have been making headlines for all of their transfer activity in recent years, but this could be the best move they ever make.

Foden is a homegrown talent and he’s on track to become one of the best players in the country as he progresses.

As Romano says, Pep Guardiola loves him, and if City can keep him at the Etihad for the entirety of his career, they will undoubtedly be contenders at the top-level for years to come.

Fingers crossed City can get Foden to put pen to paper in the coming weeks.
