Inter Milan have reportedly joined the growing list of clubs interested in signing Switzerland international Yann Sommer, with Tottenham believed to be chasing the 34-year-old goalkeeper.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A giants are keeping tabs on the veteran shot-stopper with Sommer’s contract due to expire at the end of this season, with Inter keen on signing the Borussia Monchengladbach star in the summer transfer window as a free agent.

As per the Italian journalist, Bayern Munich are the club leading the chase to sign Sommer as the Bundesliga side continues to look for a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer, with GiveMeSport reporting that Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the Swiss veteran.
With Hugo Lloris reaching the twilight of his career, it makes sense why Tottenham would be on the hunt for a top-quality goalkeeper. However, Sommer makes little sense given how close in age the two players are, with Antonio Conte’s former side Inter in a similar position with Samir Handanovic.
Indeed, whilst Inter have a long-term goalkeeper on their books in Andre Onana, signing Sommer as a replacement for the 38-year-old Handanvoic makes a lot of sense for the Nerazzurri, with Simone Inzaghi a manager who is not afraid to rotate between the sticks, unlike Conte at Tottenham.
Sommer signing for Inter or Bayern makes more sense than Tottenham

Sommer has been one of the most underrated goalkeepers in Europe for quite some time, and with the shot-stopper set to leave Gladbach in 2023, signing for a club like Inter or Bayern seems to make more sense at this stage in the Swiss star’s career than Tottenham.
After all, Conte would still likely favour Lloris as Tottenham’s no. 1 should Sommer arrive next year, and for a goalkeeper as good as the 34-year-old, the Gladbach icon will be hopeful of playing regular football wherever he ends up in the coming months.
