Fabrizio Romano has said Chelsea are not in discussions to sign Leicester City star Youri Tielemans, with Arsenal being heavily linked with the 25-year-old midfielder in recent weeks.
Speaking to CaughtOffisde, the Italian journalist revealed that no talks are ongoing between Chelsea and Tielemans, with Romano saying: “At the moment there are no negotiations ongoing with Chelsea and Youri Tielemans, despite some claims to the contrary.”
As per the report, Chelsea have been linked with Tielemans as the Belgian international looks set to leave Leicester in January, though as reported by the Mirror, Arsenal remain the favourites to sign the Premier League superstar, who could cost just £25m according to Football London.
Regarded by many as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, Tielemans is expected to be at the centre of many transfer battles in January as interest begins to ramp up for the Leicester star, and for Arsenal, winning the race for the former AS Monaco talisman would be huge.

Moreover, according to 90min, Arsenal will make Tielemans their number one midfield priority next month, with Mikel Arteta keen to add an experienced and proven player to the Gunners’ ranks as the north London side look to challenge for the Premier League title.
Arsenal head into Boxing Day five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the division, and beating Chelsea to Tielemans’ signing next month would be another huge statement for the Gunners, who have a shot at making history this season.
Arsenal have to beat Chelsea to Tielemans signing

Chelsea are expected to spend big in the January transfer window with Todd Bohely keen to get his wallet out and back Graham Potter in the winter, yet for Arsenal, they have to ensure they are the club who win the race to sign Tielemans next month.
After all, the midfielder would be an exceptional addition for Arsenal in 2023, and to lose out to a London rival like Chelsea would be a massive blow for the Gunners, who can’t afford to lose any sort of ground in their attempt to win the Premier League title.
