Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Franck Kessie as his AC Milan contract winds down.
The Ivorian midfielder is entering the final few months of his deal, and that means that he’s free to negotiate a move to a foreign club ahead of the summer.
The likes of Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked, but now, Aston Villa have entered the race.
Sadly for Villa, Barcelona have outlined their intentions to move for the AC Milan ace, and the midfielder is reportedly very tempted by the idea of moving to Camp Nou.
What’s been said?
Romano shared his information on Kessie.
“In the last 48 hours, Barcelona have confirmed to people close to Franck Kessie that their intention is to offer a five-year contract with a salary of €6.5m net. He is really really tempted by this opportunity. Yesterday an Italy journalist said Aston Villa made a proposal to Kessie, and it’s true that Villa are really serious on this topic, but it’s not easy, they know other clubs are in the race and that Barcelona are pushing. Barca, at the moment are really insisting on Kessie and signing him as a free agent,” Romano said.

Tough sell
As exciting a club as Aston Villa are, it will be tough for the Villans to convince Kessie to come to Villa Park.
With all due respect, Villa aren’t on the same level as Barcelona, Liverpool or Tottenham, so if a contract offer comes in from one of those elite clubs, Kessie may not find it difficult to turn Villa down.
Of course, stranger things have happened in football, but as Romano says, it won’t be easy for the Midlands club to land the Ivorian.
