There is ‘nothing’ in reports linking Real Madrid’s France international Aurelien Tchouameni with a move to Premier League challengers Arsenal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

And, ironically enough, the man tipped to replace the injury-hit Thomas Partey at the Emirates Stadium is now facing an extended spell on the sidelines himself.

Aurelien Tchouameni fractured his foot in that 2-1, Jude Bellingham-inspired Clasico victory over Barcelona, and now faces two months on the sidelines. When he returns, the winter window will be in full flow, though Romano believes that rumours linking the former Monaco ace with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu are wide of the mark.

Arsenal linked with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni

“Thomas Partey’s recent injury is a blow for Arsenal,” Romano writes in his Caught Offside column. “And we are perhaps unsurprisingly seeing some stories come up as a result of this, with links to new midfielders who could perhaps replace Partey.

“Still, my understanding for now is that Arsenal have not decided anything yet about a new midfielder, and there’s nothing to the links with Aurelian Tchouameni. No talks, no proposals, or anything like that.”

Tchouameni, a superb ball-winner with a penchant for long-range wondergoals, set Real Madrid a cool £85 million back in 2022, rebuffing Liverpool’s advances in favour of a switch to the Spanish capital (The Guardian).

The powerhouse 23-year-old, Romano adds, is in no mood to bring an early end to his Real Madrid career either, the tempo-setting Ringo Star laying the beat in the background for Bellingham’s John Lennon at the Bernabeu Beatles.

Real Madrid ‘love’ Tchouameni

“It’s also important to note that Tchouameni loves Real Madrid,” Romano adds. “And they love him. So, at the moment, there’s nothing at all.

“He’s a top player and I’m sure he could have a big future at Real Madrid, even if it makes sense that we’re often likely to see links between him and other big clubs in the Premier League.”
