Manchester United are not finished in the transfer market just yet, with a potential double deal still on the cards.

Even after bringing in Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, there is still talk that United could add to their squad before the window closes.

Two players who keep coming up are Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.

The club are looking to move players on to raise funds, and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on where things stand with those possible arrivals.

Paris Saint-Germain’s move for Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has only added to the uncertainty surrounding Donnarumma’s future.

Donnarumma, who is under contract until 2026, was left out of PSG’s Super Cup squad, making it clear he is not part of their plans going forward.

Speaking on YouTube, Fabrizio Romano said: “I think there is a concrete chance for Donnarumma to leave now, immediately.”

The Premier League appears to be his most likely destination. Manchester United are one of three clubs showing interest.

Manchester City had previously shown interest in Donnarumma but have since signed James Trafford, which makes a move less likely now. Chelsea were also mentioned as a possibility, although they remain committed to Robert Sanchez and have other priorities.

For Manchester United, any move may depend on whether they can offload either Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir. According to United In Focus, the club would consider a loan deal if they were to bring in a high-profile first-choice keeper.

Romano added: “Manchester United are looking for a new goalkeeper, they have to find a solution for one of their goalkeepers, they have to decide how much they want to invest in a new goalkeeper. There is [Senne] Lammens, a goalkeeper with a completely different salary. I think this story is quite open.”

Donnarumma wasn’t expected to be available this summer. When players of his calibre unexpectedly hit the market, clubs like Manchester United often adjust their plans accordingly. As Romano pointed out, this story still has some way to go before it’s resolved.

Manchester United have shown interest in Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, having already made contact with his representatives.

Unlike Donnarumma, who would come with a lower transfer fee and wages, Baleba would command a high transfer fee. On the other hand, he is currently on a low salary at Brighton.

The next step for Manchester United is to hold initial talks with Brighton to explore a deal, following encouragement from the player’s side.

Romano explained: “Manchester United remain in contact [with the player]. I expect Manchester United to try and understand the situation with Brighton if they have a chance to negotiate or if it’s going to be really impossible to break that wall that Brighton put around their top players.

“Baleba is not closing doors to Man Utd, personal terms will not be an issue, then on club side, work still needed.”

This deal is still in its early stages. Unlike PSG, who are open to selling Donnarumma, Brighton are reluctant to part ways with Baleba and would require a significant fee.
