Fabrizio Romano has written in his email newsletter (7:45am, October 11, 2022) that there is nothing going on between Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Jeremy Doku of Rennes.

At the moment.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has rated that while Doku is “considered an amazing talent”, there are no talks between Liverpool and the Belgium international winger’s camp right now.

According to Calciomercato over the weekend, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign the former Anderlecht youngster and will make a move for him.

Fabrizio Romano on Jeremy Doku to Liverpool speculation

Romano wrote: “I’ve seen some speculation linking Liverpool with Jeremy Doku, but I’m afraid my understanding is that there is nothing concrete going on there.

“For now, there is nothing advanced with any club yet. For sure there’s lot of interest in Jeremy Doku, he’s considered an amazing talent but I think the World Cup can also help to push Doku on the international stage as happened last time with Belgium.

“He’s a player to watch, for sure, but there’s nothing going on with Liverpool or any other club just yet.”

Keeping tabs

In our opinion, Liverpool should keep tabs on Jeremy Doku, as the Rennes winger is a very promising young player who could be a star in the future.

It is unlikely that former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool will be able to sign the 20-year-old in the January transfer window.

Rennes will surely not sell one of the best young players in the middle of the season.

However, a transfer could happen next summer.

Doku has made one start and five substitute appearances in Ligue 1 and has played 12 minutes in the UEFA Europa League for Rennes so far this season.

The winger made four starts and 10 substitute appearances in the league last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.
