According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester are interested in signing LOSC Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumaré, who could’ve moved to the Premier League before.

The Italian journalist states that the Foxes have added the Frenchman to their list of potential midfield signings ahead of the summer window.

Last month, amid interest from Manchester United in Soumaré, Romano tweeted that LOSC Lille want €35 million (£30.3 million) for the France Under-21 international.

As aforesaid, the 21-year-old could’ve already become a Premier League player.

Newcastle saw a £35 million bid accepted for the Noisy-le-Sec born maestro back in January 2020.

However, Soumaré was happy where he was, and decided against joining the Magpies as the BBC documented

However, over a year on from that decision, who knows if he’s changed his mind about moving to England.

So, seeing as he’s somewhat of an unknown quantity in England, what type of player is the LOSC Lille No.24?

Well, back in 2018, the Daily Mail described Soumaré as the ‘new Paul Pogba’ when revealing that Everton, Leicester and Manchester United wanted him.

They cited the Ligue 1 star’s strength and mobility as two traits that are comparable to the £89 million Red Devils colossus.

Soumaré has clearly caught the eye of the Premier League over the last few years – it will be interesting to see if he finally changes clubs this summer.
