According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter have made an offer to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Tottenham also interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, it seems that the Italian giants, who were abandoned by Antonio Conte in 2021, have made the first move in this transfer battle.

Romano believes the 33-year-old is tempted by the offer, as he prepares to see his contract with Roma expire next month.

However, José Mourinho is keen to keep him around following the UEFA Conference League win over Feyenoord.

Roma have offered Mkhitaryan a new contract, with talks said to be ongoing.

Despite that, Romano concludes that Inter are confident of bringing the Armenia international to the San Siro on a free transfer.

That would come as a blow to Tottenham. According to Alfredo Pedulla, Spurs are keen to sign the man who Arsenal released in 2020.

In 44 appearances this season, Mkhitaryan – who Mauricio Pochettino said could play for Real Madrid – scored five goals, while also providing nine assists.

Tottenham should make Henrikh Mkhitaryan an offer

In our view, Tottenham should follow Inter in making a move for Mkhitaryan.

Admittedly, the £88,000-a-week man wouldn’t be a long-term option for the north Londoners by any means, at the age of 33.

However, with the likes of Steven Bergwijn potentially on their way out of N17, Conte and Fabio Paratici could do worse than offer someone of Mkhitaryan’s experience a one-year deal.

The Armenian is a versatile presence, having appeared on the left, right and in the centre for Roma this season, which could come in handy for Conte in terms of squad rotation.

After securing Champions League qualification, depth will be needed too.

If Spurs really are keen to sign Mkhitaryan, they must do something soon – it seems Inter are closing in.
