Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Aurelien Tchouameni’s future and the Champions League final.
Tchouameni is a wanted man, and it looks as though the two main contenders for his signature are Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Ironically enough, Liverpool face Madrid this weekend in the Champions League final, and many have speculated that the winner of that match will be the team to sign Tchouameni this summer.
However, according to Romano, the result of Saturday’s clash will have absolutely no bearing on the Frenchman’s next move.
What’s been said?
Romano discussed whether or not Saturday’s game will affect Tchouameni’s decision.
“Fabrizio, who do you think wins the Champions League? And does the Tchouameni decision for his next club depend on the winner of the Champions League or not?”
“No, it doesn’t matter for him about the Champions League final, of course, he wants to play in the Champions League and he will play Champions League football, but he will not decide depending on the Champions League final result, and my prediction is for penalties. I don’t know, I feel like it could be Real Madrid on penalties,” Romano said.

Will make a difference
Romano says that Saturday’s match may not make a difference for Tchouameni, but it may make a difference for either club.
Indeed, imagine if Real Madrid lose to Liverpool. Los Blancos would be desperate to extract revenge on the Reds by landing Tchouameni ahead of them, and it would also be rather embarrassing to lose a final and a high-profile transfer race to the same club.
The same applies for Liverpool, if the Reds lose the Champions League final, the shine would be slightly taken off of this season, and they may be more inclined to make a big-money move for the midfielder.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
