Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool isn’t dead in the water, according to one prominent journalist.
For well over a month this has been the most interesting transfer story in English football, until perhaps Lionel Messi declared that he was leaving Barcelona.
Liverpool are heavily linked with a move for the Bayern Munich midfielder, who helped his side lift the Champions League trophy this past weekend.
The Echo reiterated today that the Reds have no interest in the 29-year-old, but many other publications are claiming that they are keen on bringing him to Anfield.
Speculation has died down a little over the past week but, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool will re-engage with Bayern about trying to sign him.
The Guardian have reported that the Premier League champions are reluctant to meet his £27 million valuation, with the Spaniard only having a year left on his contract, something which Romano adds in his tweet.
The bad news, going by the tweet, is that communication between both sides evidently went dead at one point, but the good news is that the ‘talks are going to restart soon’ according to the Italian.
There’s a lot of Liverpool fans who want the former Barcelona star on Merseyside and maybe, just maybe, there’s life in this one yet.
