There hasn’t been much written about Mohamed Salah’s contract situation at Liverpool as of late.
The 29-year-old remains contracted to Liverpool until the summer of 2023.
With Salah being the Reds’ best player, naturally there is pressure on the Anfield club to tie him down.
Liverpool still need to secure the rest of Salah’s peak years.
And Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has some positive news on this.
Although there hasn’t been a breakthrough in negotiations between the Egyptian and his club as of yet, Romano has revealed to Anfield Watch that the player is loving life on Merseyside and is ‘prepared to stay’.
He said: “He is happy with Liverpool life, with the club, with Jurgen Klopp and with his teammates, so he is prepared to stay at Liverpool. Liverpool want to keep Mo Salah too as he is a key player.”
Good news?
Absolutely, yes.
If Salah was unhappy at Liverpool and had 18 months left on his existing deal, the situation would be so ominous.
However, the idea that he’s happy enough under Jurgen Klopp is very promising.
It indicates that the ball remains in Liverpool’s court and surely they’ll need to pay up to keep him.
They can’t really pay him whatever he wants, because no player is bigger than the club.
But they can comfortably make him the Reds’ best-paid footballer of all time, even if it’s less than his reported demands, which range from £300,000 per week to £500,000, depending on the report.
