Fabrizio Romano has revealed that reported Liverpool target Renato Sanches has a wish to leave his club in the January transfer window.
According to French outlet Le10 Sport, Liverpool want the Lille midfielder as Gini Wijnaldum’s long-term replacement at Anfield, with the Netherlands international leaving on a Bosman next summer as things stand.
In Italy, Tuttomercatoweb reported last week that the Reds and the Ligue 1 outfit had agreed a deal for the 23-year-old to join the Premier League champions.
And although Romano has claimed on his Here We Go podcast that there’s nothing ‘advanced’ about the negotiations, the Portugal international does want to quit Lille.
He said: “We have a lot of rumours. I’m told there’s nothing advanced with Liverpool. He’s on the list of all top clubs because he’s having an amazing season with Lille. Between Liverpool and Lille, there is no agreement. Renato Sanches wants to change [clubs]. He wants to change to go to the top level.”
It’s certainly good news for the Merseyside outfit that Sanches, according to the ever-reliable Romano, is keen to leave the club and should, in theory, make Liverpool’s would-be acquisition a little easier.
Signing players in January is very difficult for a multitude of reasons, but it’s definitely an advantage for Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards if their reported target is willing and wanting to leave his current side.
