BILD reported earlier this week that Tottenham Hotspur were looking at signing Peter Gulacsi.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from Red Bull Leipzig.

And with Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris turning 35 this year, Spurs are right to be looking at long-term replacements for the France international, particularly with the former Lyon stopper not having an understudy capable of usupring him in the first XI anytime soon.

But if the North Londoners do sign a new goalkeeper, it won’t be Gulacsi.

That’s because Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter today that the Hungary international has agreed a deal with the Bundesliga side to stay until 2025.

Gulacsi’s release clause in Germany was £11 million but there’s no way he’s going to be available for that figure any longer, which is bad news for the Lilywhites.

That being said, there are other fish in the sea for Tottenham and no doubt they’ll move on to other targets in spite of this blow.

With only Joe Hart to support Lloris, it’s clear that the North Londoners do need additional options between the sticks.

Hart hasn’t made a Premier League appearance for any club since 2018 and with Tottenham really needing to win their remaining four games to boost their hopes of Champions League qualification, stand-in coach Ryan Mason won’t be dropping Lloris – who has won a World Cup – anytime soon.
