Former Everton superstar James Rodriguez is reportedly set to sign for Greek giants Olympiacos just 12 months after leaving Goodison Park to join Qatari club Al-Rayyan.
Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to confirm that the Colombian international is on the verge of signing for Olympiacos on loan, with Rodriguez’s time in the Middle East not going to plan after being sold by former Everton manager Rafa Benitez.
The Spanish coach was intent on offloading the midfielder, with Rodriguez’s relationship with Benitez frosty at best seemingly the moment the former Liverpool manager was appointed as the new Everton boss, with the 31-year-old signing for Al-Rayyan last September.
However, 12 month after moving to Qatar, Rodriguez is already set to return to Europe with Olympiacos, with the UEFA Europa League side close to signing the South American superstar on loan for the season in what is quite a coup for the Greek Super League giants.
Olympiacos have already made some big moves this year in the summer transfer window, namely Real Madrid and Brazilian legend Marcelo, with Hwang Ui-jo and Konrad de la Fuente also joining the Greek titans on loan for the season, with former Everton star Rodriguez set to be their next and potentially final signing.
James Rodriguez can reboot his career signing for Olympiacos

Rodriguez’s career has been something of a blur for quite some time, yet even after playing for the likes of Everton, Bayern Munich and Al-Rayyan, signing for Olympiacos feels like a complete reset for the South American playmaker, who could shine in Greece and in the Europa League.
At 31, the midfielder is heading into the latter stages of his supposed peak, and playing for Olympiacos could be a great club to elevate Rodriguez’s abilities, with the former Madrid star having the potential to become a superstar in Greece with the European regulars.
