Tottenham Hotspur are not planning to make a last-gasp move for Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar before tonight’s transfer deadline.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has taken to Twitter to report that Aouar won’t be leaving Lyon before the deadline now.
Romano claims that both Arsenal and Real Madrid are out of the race and will not be making moves in the coming hours.
What’s interesting is that Romano tweeted ‘no answers from Tottenham’, suggesting that Spurs were in the mix but haven’t followed up their interest.
Sky Sports reported last week that Tottenham had held informal talks over a deal for Aouar, with Lyon willing to sell.
However, Tottenham appear to have moved way from any midfield additions on deadline day due to the situation surrounding Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele wants to leave but will be kept until at least January with Tottenham deciding not to sell tonight.
With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso also in the mix, Tottenham seemingly can’t sanction a deal for a new midfielder.
That leaves Aouar stuck at Lyon once again, no closer to landing the big move that many expected for him this summer.
