According to Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian, Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil prefers to move to Fenerbahce in Turkey in the January transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported in The Guardian that Ozil is in talks to join Fenerbahce on loan.
DC United in Major League Soccer is the most likely destination for the German, but his preference would be a move to the Turkish Super Big, according to Romano.
It has been reported that Fenerbahce are not going to be able to pay the entire salary of Ozil, which is £350,000 per week, but Arsenal are not willing to subsidise it.
Arsenal exit inevitable?
With The Mirror reporting that Ozil is in talks with Arsenal over the termination of his contract, it does seem very likely that the former Real Madrid star will not be at the North London club much longer.
The German has not played for the Gunners since March 2020 and was not part of manager Mikel Arteta’s Premier League or Europa League squad this season.
Ozil still remains a very good player, and only time will tell if Arsenal will miss him if he leaves this month.
