Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Liverpool will not sign Ozan Kabak on a permanent basis.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has said that Liverpool are on the verge of bringing Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

Romano has said that the former Premier League champions have decided not to take up the option to sign the Turkey international central defender on a permanent basis.

Kabak joined Liverpool on loan from Schalke in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old central defender has had injury problems at Anfield.

The Turkey international made nine appearances in the Premier League and played four times in the Champions League for the Reds this season.

With Liverpool reportedly set to sign Konate, there is really no need for Kabak.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will be back from injuries next season.

Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams have done well for Liverpool in defence.

Don’t forget, there is also Ben Davies available for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp when he is fit.

Kabak is a very good and talented young player, but it seems that he could not do enough at Liverpool to impress the bosses.

Schalke are likely to sell Kabak now as they have been relegated from the Bundesliga.
