Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffside that West Ham United could not sign Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal in the summer transfer window because the Hammers could not agree on personal terms.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that West Ham wanted to sign Danjuma.
However, the Hammers could not agree personal terms with the former Bournemouth winger.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international winger stayed at Villarreal.
Why West Ham could not sign Arnaut Danjuma
Romano said: “I’ve been asked by some fans about Arnaut Danjuma – we heard a lot about him earlier in the summer, but speculation ended up dying down. So what happened?
“Despite links with Newcastle and some other clubs, the real interest was there from West Ham. They wanted Danjuma but the deal collapsed because of personal terms, there was no agreement with the player.
“In the end, Danjuma decided to stay at Villarreal. We’ll see if he becomes an option for English clubs again in the future.”

Missing out
In our view, Arnaut Danjuma would have been a good signing for West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
The Netherlands international winger has done well for Villarreal since he moved to the La Liga club in 2021.
Danjuma knows English football from his time at Bournemouth, and he would not have taken much time to settle in at the Hammers.
The 25-year-old has played 31 minutes in La Liga and has made one appearance in the UEFA Europa Conference League so far this season.
Danjuma scored 10 goals and gave three assists in 17 La Liga starts last season.
The winger scored six goals and provided one assist in 10 UEFA Champions League starts for Villarreal last season.
