Tottenham Hotspur continue to chase Edmond Tapsoba despite seemingly ramping up their interest in Micky van de Ven.

Edmond Tapsoba remains a Tottenham Hotspur target even with other defenders seemingly wanted in North London.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that contact is still ongoing between Tottenham and Tapsoba.

Romano stated ‘deal on’ with regards to Tottenham and Tapsoba despite claiming that Spurs are moving for Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.

The Dutchman wants to join Tottenham this summer and Spurs are seemingly edging towards a deal.

Spurs are still keeping their options open though and Romano believes a move for Tapsoba is still possible.

The Burkina Faso star is likely to cost much more than Van de Ven though, and we can’t really see the Bayer Leverkusen star arriving.

Edmond Tapsoba to Tottenham seems unlikely now

Tapsoba is one of the Bundesliga’s top defenders and has been hailed as a ‘fantastic’ player by Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes.

We can totally understand why Tottenham have been interested in signing Tapsoba.

Quick, imposing and very confident on the ball, Tapsoba would have been a great fit for Ange Postecoglou.

However, we can’t quite see this deal happening anymore.

A deal for Van de Ven seems very advanced now, which will set Tottenham back £30million.

The Wolfsburg star is a natural left footer and brings the balance that Tottenham really need in defence.

It’s hard to see Tottenham really splashing the cash on another centre back if Van de Ven completes his move.

Links to Tosin Adarabioyo make much more sense as an additional centre back signing.

The Fulham man is homegrown and inside the final year of his deal, opening up a potential bargain for Tottenham.

Spurs could feasibly land both Van de Ven and Adarabioyo for the same price as Tapsoba.

The Leverkusen star would only really make sense for Tottenham now if Cristian Romero is leaving, or if there is a problem in the Van de Ven deal as Spurs seek to bolster their back line.
