Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to provide an update on FC Porto forward Luis Diaz, who is believed to be a target for Liverpool and Everton.
What’s the story?
Well, the 31-cap Colombia international is a man in demand, with both the Reds and the Toffees taking note of his fine displays.
So far this season, the 24-year-old has scored 14 goals in 24 appearances, while also providing five assists.
Romano claims that Liverpool scouted the South American attacker on five occasions in 2021, but the reliable Italian journalist isn’t expecting any imminent negotiations.

Romano’s news comes after the Liverpool Echo revealed that Everton held talks over a move for Diaz ahead of the January transfer window.
The Toffees came close to signing the Colombian in the summer when holding talks with FC Porto over a potential deal involving James Rodriguez, according to The Times.
However, the move failed to materialise.
Liverpool must beat Everton to Luis Diaz

If Jürgen Klopp allows Rafa Benitez to sign Diaz and he goes on to shine in the Premier League, Liverpool will look rather foolish.
Merseyside rivalry aside, Liverpool need the FC Porto No.7 as they are severely lacking quality depth in attack.
Aside from Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah, Klopp doesn’t really have anyone who can perform at a high level.

The likes of Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino are both not good enough to fill in, nor are they the most reliable in terms of fitness.
Mane and Salah have now departed for the Africa Cup of Nations, which gives Klopp one more reason to launch a move for Diaz.
When Manchester City have the likes of Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden in their frontline, Liverpool must do more to improve their squad.
