Liverpool have been linked with RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate for some time now, and it looks like they’ve got their man.
The Athletic reported last month that Liverpool were in the process of finalising a deal to sign Konate in a deal worth around €40million (£35million).
The news has gone a little quiet since then though, and Konate even suggested earlier this month that a deal wouldn’t be happening.
Now though, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that a deal is indeed close.
Romano gave the report his patented ‘here we go’ catchphrase, which indicates that a deal is on the verge of completion.
The Italian suggests that personal terms have been agreed on a five-year contract with Konate.
Romano claims that the deal won’t be €40million as previously reported, but more like €35million – around £30million.
The Frenchman will now join the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Nathaniel Phillips, Ben Davies and Rhys Williams as Liverpool’s centre back options.
