Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur aren’t ruling out the prospect of hiring a surprise manager, claiming the decision will be made ‘shortly’.
Tottenham have been without a head coach for over a month after sacking Jose Mourinho in April.
Ryan Mason has taken charge of Spurs on an interim basis since but the 29-year-old is too inexperienced for a job of this magnitude.
Antonio Conte and Erik Ten Hag are reported to have already met with the North London club over succeeding the Portuguese.
Others like Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann – the latter of whom is Bayern Munich’s new coach – have turned down the role.
There are some big names on Daniel Levy’s reported shortlist and others that would underwhelm fans, perhaps like Nuno Espirito Santo after his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers this week.
But Romano, writing in his column for The Benchwarmers, has revealed that Tottenham ‘does not rule out’ a surprise appointment, but added that Nuno’s exit from Molineux is unrelated to anything involving the Lilywhites.
He said: ” The choice will be made shortly, there are three candidates on Daniel Levy’s list: Tottenham does not rule out surprises. Nuno Espirito Santo has left Wolverhampton but is not on the Spurs list.”
