Matt Doherty could become the next player to head to Saudi Arabia just months after his Tottenham Hotspur exit.
Saudi Arabia may now be the next stop for ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace Matt Doherty amid rising interest.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Saudi Arabian clubs are now in talks to sign Doherty.
The Irishman is a free agent having come to the end of his short-term deal with Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
Romano claims that negotiations are taking place and Doherty could soon head to Saudi Arabia, though no club is named.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have already made big moves to Saudi Arabia, with N’Golo Kante now following suit.
The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continue to be linked with moves to Saudi Arabia too with Chelsea having something of a fire sale.
Doherty is a slightly more left-field choice but the 31-year-old could now be given a money-spinning move to the Middle East.

Matt Doherty looking to bounce back after Tottenham exit
Doherty has endured a strange 2023 so far.
When he lined up at right wing back in Tottenham’s 3-0 FA Cup win at Preston North End on January 28th, few expected Doherty to be heading for the exit.
Yet come January 31st, Doherty had his contract ripped up as Tottenham brought in Pedro Porro from Sporting.

Doherty decided to make a quickfire move to Spain, joining Diego Simeone’s Atletico on a short-term contract.
Doherty only played 16 minutes in La Liga across two substitute appearances for Atletico, failing to make an impact in the Spanish capital.
Now available again, Doherty is seeking some stability and could head off to Saudi Arabia in an attempt to get his career back on track.
Premier League clubs would surely take a look at Doherty but few would be able to match the riches in Saudi Arabia, which may well appeal to the former Wolves man.
