Few Arsenal fans will remember the name Kostas Pileas but he is now allegedly set for a big move this summer.
Aris Limassol defender Kostas Pileas is expected to make a significant move this summer, years after leaving Arsenal.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that clubs around Europe are interested in signing Pileas.
Romano notes that Pileas was in the Cypriot First Division Team of the Year having helped Aris win the title.
That’s a strong achievement given that Pileas only really nailed down a starting role in the second half of the season.
Clubs in ‘top leagues’ now want to sign Pileas and he could land a big move just a year since joining Aris from Ethnikos.
Kostas Pileas bouncing back from Arsenal exit
Pileas was on the books at Arsenal but, as mentioned earlier, few Gunners fans will really know of him.
The left back joined the Arsenal ranks from Geroskipou in Cyprus but failed to make the grade at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal let Pileas leave in 2017, with the Daily Cannon noting that he had been on trial at Leicester City having been given permission to leave.
Pileas didn’t do enough to win a deal with the Foxes and he headed back to Cyprus aged just 18.
Anorthosis Famagusta took a chance on Pileas, but he only made 14 first-team appearances for the club.

When Pileas moved on to Ethnikos Achna in 2021, it looked like he wouldn’t make good on the initial promise shown at Arsenal.
Now thriving with the Cypriot champions, Pilea is starting to make real strides at the age of 24.
Capable of playing as a centre back too, Pileas will surely earn his first Cyprus cap soon enough.
A big summer move would be a major success for Pileas, who found himself desperate for a new club this time six years ago.
Who knows, maybe Pileas can now kick on and push himself towards the Premier League – and maybe even back on Arsenal’s radar one day.
