According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee is set to join Parma instead of Premier League side Everton.
Romano claims that Zirkzee is ‘one step away’ from joining Parma on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
The final details of the deal are set to be completed, with Everton missing out having ‘not sent another official bid’, according to Romano.
Everton have been pursuing Zirkzee in recent weeks, and Max Bielefeld from Sky Germany reported earlier this week that Everton had made a loan-to-buy bid worth €10million (£9million).
The situation was described as a straight fight between Parma and Everton, but it now seems that the Italian side have won the race.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin recently picking up a knock exposed Everton’s lack of striking depth, having sent Moise Kean to Paris Saint-Germain for the season.

Cenk Tosun doesn’t seem to be in favour, so adding another striker before Monday’s deadline would be very wise, even if won’t be Zirkzee.
The Dutchman, 19, seems to have potential but hast lost his way at Bayern, and will hope to get back on track at Parma whilst leaving Everton somewhat disappointed in the process.
