Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is attracting major interest amid links over a summer move to Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

That is according to new claims from Fabrizio Romano, who has taken to Twitter to discuss Kelleher’s future at Anfield.

Romano claims that Liverpool are looking into signing a backup goalkeeper this summer.

The reason is because Kelleher is ‘hoping’ to leave Liverpool and play more regular first-team football elsewhere.

Romano notes that a number of clubs are already showing an interest in signing Kelleher.

The Ireland international is facing a wait though as Liverpool weigh up whether to green-light a loan move away.

That may be a blow to any clubs chasing permanent deals for Kelleher, as it sounds like Liverpool would prefer a loan.

Celtic will be watching Caoimhin Kelleher situation closely

One club that may be in the race for Kelleher is Celtic.

The Transfer Room reported in March that Celtic are interested in luring Kelleher to Glasgow.

Joe Hart has been solid for Celtic since joining in 2021 but turns 36 today.

That means Celtic may well be looking for a goalkeeper to come in as the heir to Hart moving forward.

Kelleher would certainly fit the bill at just 24 and could theoretically become Celtic’s first-choice goalkeeper for years to come.

Liverpool seem to prefer a loan at the moment but maybe asking for a loan-to-buy isn’t the worst idea.

Kelleher has impressed when given a chance for Liverpool and has earned praise for his penalty-saving exploits.

Becoming first-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool seems like a long shot, especially with Alisson going nowhere.

Celtic should certainly investigate a move for the Liverpool ace – even if a straight loan deal may not be what the Bhoys are seeking this summer.
