Arsenal target Xavi Simons will now have a big decision to make as Paris Saint-Germain prepare to activate his buy-back clause.

Xavi Simons may now be heading back to Paris Saint-Germain amid links with a move to Arsenal.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that PSG are now planning to activate their buy-back clause on Simons.

PSG sold Simons to PSV Eindhoven last summer but included a buy-back clause worth a paltry €6million (£5.15million).

PSG’s clause expires at the end of the month so Romano highlights that Simons has 25 days to make up his mind.

You have to imagine that Simons will decide long before that point but the ball is now in the Dutchman’s court.

It’s no great surprise that PSG want Simons back; he smashed 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games for PSV.

Bringing him back for just over £5million is either a bargain for new boss Luis Enrique or the chance to flip him for even more money elsewhere…

Arsenal still have hope of signing Xavi Simons

This news will be of real interest to Arsenal, who are though to be keen on signing Simons this summer.

Fabrizio Romano claimed in June that Manchester Utd, Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig all want Simons.

The rumours gathered some pace as Dutch reporter Jeroen Kapteijns suggested Simons to Arsenal was on the cards because his agent is Darren Dein – the son of former Gunners vice-chairman David Dein.

Arsenal aren’t out of hope even with PSG seemingly pushing to re-sign the playmaker.

French newspaper L’Equipe, as relayed by Get French Football News, noted in June that Simons has no interest in rejoining PSG.

Simons barely featured for their first team before leaving last summer and he seemingly isn’t keen on a return.

That may pave the way for Arsenal to pounce, though a deal may be a little trickier now big money has been spent on Kai Havertz.
