Arsenal have made their second bid for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber and they have increased heavily on their first offer.
Jurrien Timber seems to be moving closer to joining Arsenal after the Gunners increased their offer to sign him.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Arsenal’s new offer is worth up to €48million (£41million).
The Athletic reported last week that Arsenal had offered £30million for Timber but Ajax wanted around £50million.
It now seems that the two clubs are nearing a compromise with a deal for Timber coming somewhere in the middle of the two valuations.
Romano adds that Timber has agreed a deal until 2028 with Arsenal and that the defender only wants to join the Gunners.
Timber is impressed with Mikel Arteta’s project at Arsenal and the move is now ‘getting closer’ to being done.
The 22-year-old has been linked with other Premier League clubs but it looks like Arsenal will become his new home soon enough.
How much will Jurrien Timber earn at Arsenal?
Arsenal are forking out big money to sign Timber and some will wonder just how much the defender will earn if he does make his move.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf suggested that Timber was in line to earn around €8million-a-year at Arsenal, which works out to around £130,000-a-week.
The Daily Mail believe the numbers are a little lower though, suggesting that Timber will earn a minimum of £90,000-a-week.
Add-ons could take Timber up to £120,000-a-week, which is similar to the claims in the Netherlands.
Arsenal clearly see real value in Timber not just right now but also for the future.
