Aged just 16 years and 98 days who else has hailed such accolades and what success should we expect from the Malaga striker?

With all the financial turmoil embroiling Malaga they were in need of good news. After losing Santi Cazorla to Arsenal, Salomon Rondon to Rubin Kazan and Ruud Van Nistlerooy to the sands of time striking prowess appeared lacking but they may have found a new hero in the form of Cameroonian centre forward Fabrice Olinga, who became La Liga’s youngest ever goalscorer at 16 years and 98 days old.

After beating the record set by Iker Muniain by a whopping 191 days is such a feat a premonition of success.

The Premier League’s youngest scorer is currently Norwich striker James Vaughan who scored against Crystal Palace on the 10th April 2005 aged 16 years 271 days. His career is a testament to how injuries can decimate talent and Fabrice will be hoping for better luck then the former Evertonian. However the previous holders of the coveted mantle will give Fabrice real hope for his future career. Jams Milner held the accolade in 2002; Wayne Rooney two months previously and before that Darren Bent and Michael Owen held the title. All have gone on to establish themselves as top performers with Owen and Rooney enjoying significant success at domestic and continental level.

In Serie A the youngest goalscorer is Amedeo Amadei in 1937 aged just 15 years and 280 days. In modern day times the youngest goalscorers are players such as Valeri Bojinov, Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic who have gone on to have mixed success in their respective careers.

In France Jeremy Menez scored a hat-trick for Sochaux aged just 17 years and 260 days and current Premier League target M’Baye Niang grabbed his first goal aged just 16 in May of last year whilst Laurent Rouusey is the current holder of the youngest scorer accolade in France.

The Bundesliga’s current youngest scorer is Nuri Sahin, now of transfer gossip and Real Madrid fame, when he netted for Borussia Dortmund aged just 17 years and 82 days.

The Champions League’s youngest ever scorer is Olympiakos’s Ghanaian forward Peter Ofori-Quaye. His career is mostly non-existent since his time at the Greek champions and is currently plying his trade back in his homeland for Bechem United.

One thing that is for sure is that Fabrice Olinga is hotly tipped for the future and considering the difference in age between him and many other names mentioned in this subject, we might want to all remember the name Fabrice Olinga.

Here is the youngster’s history making moment, notice he hit the post just seconds before…
