Cesc Fabregas has been taking part in a Q&A session on Twitter, where he shared some interesting comments on Newcastle target Timo Werner.

What’s the story?

Well, it was BILD’s Christian Falk who revealed that Newcastle are interested in Werner, following the Saudi Arabian takeover.

The German football expert believes the Magpies are tracking the £45m man, who has struggled since joining Chelsea in June 2020.

Interestingly, Fabregas believes those struggles are partly down to the fact his teammates at Stamford Bridge aren’t passing to him.

You can see what the ex-Arsenal maestro tweeted in full below.

In truth, that is something we’ve noticed as well.

Werner often makes fantastic runs, although they are mostly used to create space for others to score in, which doesn’t see the German earn any assists.

Nevertheless, it is admirably selfless work – the 25-year-old’s ability to stretch opposition backlines is very impressive, to say the least.

Should Newcastle sign Timo Werner?

In our view, this isn’t a signing Amanda Staveley should be making anytime soon.

Perhaps when the rebuild has started to take shape, and the threat of relegation is gone, Werner would be a good addition at St James’ Park.

However, as things stand, the 47-cap Germany international isn’t what Newcastle need.

In our view, the Magpies should be signing reliable, Premier League proven options such as James Tarkowski and Ismaila Sarr at this stage.

Werner would be a luxury signing, in every sense of the word.

With only two goals in ten appearances this season, Newcastle can do much better than the £272,000-a-week man.
