Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has praised football fans for their role in the reported dismantlement of the European Super League [talkSPORT].

It has been a whirlwind 51 hours for the future of top-level European football after Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur announced on Sunday that they would no longer be apart of UEFA.

Instead, the Premier League’s elite had plans to join a 20-team midweek league full of the continent’s heavyweights, but the Stamford Bridge club were reported to have pulled out on Tuesday night, hours before the Gunners, Spurs, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs officially confirmed their u-turn on Twitter.

It was a hugely controversial venture led by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and one that even prompted negative reaction from Boris Johnson and Prince William.

But England’s biggest clubs are back with UEFA following huge pressure from the footballing world, including millions of supporters.

Here’s how some Arsenal and Chelsea fans responded to Fabregas’s congratulating the supporters on Twitter:
