Premier League legend Cesc Fabregas admits he would love to see Monaco team-mates Sofiane Diop, Youssouf Fofana and Aurelien Tchouameni link up with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, speaking to RMC Sport.
The former Arsenal skipper will be grinning from ear to ear, then, if Real Madrid’s Champions League final opponents firm up their interest in a player who has been linked with a move to Merseyside for the best part of 12 months now.
According to FootMercato, Liverpool have already held talks with Tchouameni’s camp.
The £52 million-rated former Bordeaux ace – a player Klopp reportedly ‘loves’ – is one of the most coveted players in Europe heading into the summer window. Arsenal, Manchester United and Real are reportedly among his growing throng of admirers.
But Tchouameni is not the only exciting young midfielder honing his talents in Monaco’s feted finishing school.
France U21 international Diop is more an attack-minded, box-to-box player than the deep-lying Tchouameni. He scored seven times as Les Monegasques flirted with Ligue 1 glory in 2021/22.
Furthermore, it seems only a matter of time before 23-year-old Fofana is following in the footsteps of Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe and co.
Will Liverpool sign Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni?
And Fabregas, a wise old head in a team of rising stars, is proud to have played a role in the development of Monaco’s ‘class of 22’.
“When I arrived, Thierry (Henry, the coach) and Vadim (Vasilyev, former vice president) asked me to help develop the young players,” says the 2010 World Cup winner.

“Today, I feel like I have won the respect and the sympathy of this younger generation. I hope I have helped. We like each other.
“I will continue to follow them, talk with them. I would like to see Fofana, Diop or Tchouameni at Bayern or Liverpool!”
Life in the old dog
35-year-old Fabregas, meanwhile, has refuted claims that he could be set to retire after an injury-hit season in the Principality.

The Gunners legend has played just 36 minutes of Ligue 1 football all season. What’s more, he recently spent seven months on the sidelines.
“Didn’t play for a few months but felt good yesterday,” Fabregas wrote on Twitter following his return to action.
“Still got a few tricks here and there!”
