If reports from CalcioMercato are to be believed, Spurs may be eyeing up a swap deal in the winter that could see Tanguy Ndombele exchanged for AC Milan’s Franck Kessie.
Kessie would be a brilliant addition to the Tottenham squad, but this is a deal that would work for all parties.
Indeed, Spurs would be getting a brilliant player in Kessie, while AC Milan would be getting a midfielder with a lot of untapped potential in Ndombele.
That untapped potential could be realised if this move does come to fruition though.
Indeed, many have criticised Ndombele for his lackadaisical style and perceived lack of effort, and in a league as physical as the Premier League, you can’t get away with playing in that way.
So many talented players, midfielders particularly, have struggled with the pace of the Premier League, but if Ndombele went to Serie A, he’d have a much easier ride.
Italian football is a lot slower and allows for a lot more time on the ball in the middle of the park, hence why players such as Andrea Pirlo, Jorginho have blossomed in Serie A, and it’s also partially why someone like Paul Pogba earned more praise during his time at Juventus.
Yes, Ndombele may not be a player who’s keen to put in the hard yards and do the running that someone like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would, but he has an innate talent on the ball, and Italy could be the best place for him to showcase it.
Fabio Paratici sending Ndombele to Milan may inadvertently help unlock the Frenchman’s potential.
