CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Fabio Paratici could be key in Tottenham Hotspur’s ability to hire Luis Enrique as their head coach at the end of the season.

The journalist has told TEAMtalk that Paratici has a personal relationship with former Barcelona and AS Roma head coach Luis Enrique, and that it could be crucial if Tottenham are to hire the 52-year-old.

However, the future of Paratici at Tottenham is now uncertain after he was banned from working in football worldwide.

Reported prospect of Luis Enrique becoming Tottenham Hotspur manager

Jacobs said: “And this is why there’s no guarantees for Tottenham, because Julian Nagelsmann will not be short of options. Almost certainly he will have an option that has Champions League Football next season. And if that’s not Tottenham, then they suddenly don’t become front-runners to land somebody like him.

“I think it’ll be the same for Luis Enrique, who has said that he’s very tempted by the Premier League. But is he prepared to join Tottenham as well without Champions League football?

“The advantage with Enrique is that [Fabio] Paratici likes Enrique and has a relationship with him both personally and professionally. But if Paratici is not there anymore (his position has been called into question this week), it changes the dynamic once again.”

HITC Verdict: Spurs fans need not be apprehensive

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur fans should not be apprehensive about the prospect of Luis Enrique becoming the new head coach of the first team.

Yes, Paratici is a big figure, but Tottenham were there as a club before him, and they will be a big team after him.

If Tottenham make the right pitch to Luis Enrique, then they will be able to attract him.

If the former Barcelona boss wants to manage in the Premier League, then it is hard to see him get a better and bigger club than Tottenham right now.

Spurs could finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
