Battered and bruised defender Fabio Cardoso finally returned to the Rangers side on Wednesday night in a 4-0 win over Berwick Rangers, and posted a message to Gers fans on Twitter after the match.
The defender finally returned to action on Wednesday night, almost a month after breaking his nose against Motherwell in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup, with saw the Scottish giants crash out of the competition, losing 2-0.
However, Cardoso is now in line for a return to Scottish Premiership action on Saturday after helping the Light Blues keep a clean sheet against Scottish League Two side Berwick, as the Gers play host to Hamilton on Saturday.
Cardoso took to his Twitter account after the friendly win, posting the words “step by step” as he looks to regain his fitness and his place in the Rangers starting eleven.
Rangers’ number four has since had surgery to correct the facial injury, and has since missed the Gers outings against Kilmarnock, Hearts and Partick Thistle.
Portuguese centre-back Cardoso, 23, could struggle to regain his place in Rangers’ starting eleven following the impressive displays of teenager Ross McCrorie, who even scored one of the Gers’ three goals against Partick last time out.
Three points for interim boss Graeme Murty on Saturday against Hamilton would see him make it three wins out of three since stepping into the caretaker role for a second time, and could push the Gers into second if Aberdeen and Hibernian drop points.
