Fabio Cardoso returns to Rangers training, posts message to fans

Rangers defender Fabio Cardoso has been sidelined with a broken nose.

Fabio Cardoso has declared on his official Twitter account that he has returned to Rangers training after a spell on the sidelines with a broken nose.

The 23-year-old defender has failed to feature for the Scottish giants since Motherwell’s Ryan Bowman caught the Portuguese star in the face with a powerful elbow, during the Well’s 2-0 win in the Betfred Cup semi-final.

Rangers’ number four even revealed earlier this month that he has to undergo surgery on the facial injury to correct the problem, but has now returned to training after almost a month out of action.

The former Vitoria Setubal ace posted “good to be back” on Twitter with a picture of him warming up at Auchenhowie alongside Bruno Alves, Daniel Candeias and Eduardo Herrera.

Cardoso could now be in line to return to the starting line-up as the Gers face Hamilton at Ibrox on Saturday, but may find that his position has been filled by teenage ace Ross McCrorie.

McCrorie, 19, has been in excellent form since replacing Cardoso and even scored against Partick Thistle last time out to open his Gers account.

Three points for Rangers on Saturday could see them climb from fourth to second place, if Aberdeen lose to Motherwell and Hibernian drop points against St. Johnstone.
