Fabio Capello has raved about reported Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo on Sky Sport Italia.
The former England international head coach rates the AS Roma attacking midfielder highly, and believes that the 21-year-old can win the Ballon d’Or in the future.
According to The Guardian, Tottenham are interested in signing the Italy international, but Roma have told them that they have no intention of selling him.
Capello told Sky Sport Italia, as translated by The World Game: “Zaniolo has physical power and strength and extraordinary quality. He has potential not just for the [European] Golden Shoe, but he can aspire to something more, to the Ballon d’Or.
“I’m in love with Zaniolo. Everything is there in terms of strength, quality and speed, at the highest level. Other players have this potential, but not at his level.”
Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?
With attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen having left Tottenham for Inter Milan in the January transfer window, there is a case to be made that Jose Mourinho’s side need a suitable replacement.
Zaniolo is a very good creative player with vision, and he would make the Tottenham attack better and more potent.
According to WhoScored, the youngster scored six goals and provided two assists in 16 Serie A starts for Roma this past season, and scored four goals and provided two assists in 20 league starts in 2018-19.
However, Roma are an ambitious club, and one suspects that the Serie A outfit will not sell the Italy international this summer, unless, of course, Spurs make a huge offer that is too good to turn down.

Ben Godfrey price-tag
Another player Tottenham have been linked with this summer is Norwich City youngster Ben Godfrey.
The Sun reported in July that Tottenham are among a number of clubs who are interested in signing the 22-year-old central defender from Norwich, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
The Daily Mail has now reported that AC Milan have asked about the the youngster who can also operate in midfielder, and that the Canaries are looking for £30 million in transfer fees.
