Fabio Borini has joined AC Milan on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland.

Fabio Borini has taken to Twitter and Instagram to send an emotional message to the Sunderland fans.

Borini has left Premier League club Sunderland to join Italian outfit AC Milan on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent deal.

The Italian striker scored two goals in 19 Premier League starts for the Black Cats last season, as the club suffered relegation to the Championship.

The 26-year-old joined Sunderland from Liverpool in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £10 million.

The former Chelsea striker initially played on loan for the Black Cats during the 2013-14 campaign.

Borini has sent an emotional message to Sunderland fans on Twitter and Instagram, and it seems that he is leaving the Black Cats for good.

Borini struggled to make an impact at Sunderland over the past two seasons, and one suspects that not too many fans will be disappointed to see the striker leave for Milan.
