Fabinho has picked an XI of his best teammates through his career on Globo Esporte’s Twitter account – and included only six Liverpool stars, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and a current Manchester City man in the form of Bernardo Silva.
The 29-year-old has spent the last five years at Liverpool, racking up a huge 191 appearances. But of course, he has also turned out for Monaco – in which he played 233 times. Real Madrid is also on his CV, earning 29 caps for Brazil.
So, the Liverpool man has a serious pool of players to pick from. Of course, he was one of the golden side that saw Monaco win the 2016-17 Ligue 1 title – alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Silva and plenty more star players.
But Fabinho did not include Mbappe and instead, Cristiano Ronaldo having played with him at Real Madrid. He also included City’s Silva, as well as six current Liverpool teammates in Thiago, Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah.
Fabinho XI of teammates: Six Liverpool players, Ronaldo and City’s Silva
An interesting one, first of all, that he has not included Mbappe. But if Fabinho has voted under the rule of the form of his teammates when he played with them – then Ronaldo is different level. He was in his prime at Madrid, with Fabinho.
Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago, Salah and Firmino are all included in the team. Meanwhile, Andy Robertson, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane miss out. Lots to debate from Fabinho’s teammate XI.
Fabinho is likely to be on the bench for Brazil on Monday evening when the Selecao take to the field in Qatar. They take on South Korea in the last 16 stage of the World Cup, in what will be the sixth of eight second-round matches.
