Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that defensive midfielder Fabinho will not play against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium due to injury.

Klopp’s Liverpool will take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

The Reds are second in the league table at the moment with 86 points from 36 matches, four points behind leaders and last season’s champions Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s City have played 37 games.

Liverpool simply cannot lose against Southampton if they are to take the race for the Premier League title to the final day of the season.

Fabinho is recovering from the muscle injury that he suffered against Aston Villa, and Klopp has said that the £180,000-a-week (SalarySport) Brazil international defensive midfielder will be not available.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool’s Fabinho v Southampton

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Fabinho’s recovery process: “Very well, but he will not be involved tomorrow. But very good.”

Injury problems

Liverpool have injury concerns ahead of the match against Southampton.

Forward Mohamed Salah and defender Virgil van Dijk did not finish the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in London at the weekend.

Klopp has said that he will not use Salah or Van Dijk against Southampton, but we think that Liverpool will still have more than enough to beat the Saints and take the Premier League title race to the final day of the season.
