The former Villa midfielder praised the Manchester City supporters.
Fabian Delph was booed on his return to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon. His former side earned a creditable 0-0 draw against Manchester City and the 25-year-old came on late in the game.
On Monday morning, he reacted on Instagram to his return and the draw, praising the ‘unbelievable’ Manchester City support.
You can argue Delph is goading the Aston Villa fans, or simply ignoring them and choosing to acknowledge the faith shown by his new fanbase.
Naturally, there was plenty of abuse for the midfielder from Villa fans in response. And a certain animal emoticon was used a number of times…
Meanwhile, Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany produced a less controversial reaction to the 0-0 draw on Twitter:
City remain top and Aston Villa stay bottom after the 0-0 draw but the result will suit Villa far more.
Under Remi Garde, the Midlands outfit may well push on – much more than they would have done under Tim Sherwood, that’s for sure.
And, luckily for Villa fans, Delph won’t be returning to Villa Park for a game until next season at the earliest!
