Fabian Delph enjoyed an excellent home debut for Everton last weekend.

Everton could have picked up one of the bargains of the summer, if Fabian Delph’s home debut was anything to go by.

Delph has now played twice for Everton after returning from injury and on both occasions he has impressed.

The England international first caught the eye with his display against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.

Although Everton were up against lower league opponents, Delph looked a cut above the rest, as the Toffees picked up a 4-2 win.

The experienced midfielder was then excellent against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, as Everton won 3-2.

Delph was effective in helping Everton win the midfield battle, and Andre Gomes looked far more comfortable with the former Manchester City man alongside him than he had when Morgan Schneiderlin had partnered him.

Everton managed to sign Delph for just £8 million this summer (Telegraph), and at that price he could well go on to become one of the best value for money buys any side in the Premier League pulled off this summer.

Delph already looks as if he has the capabilities to be absolutely vital to Everton over the course of the campaign.

His energy and tenacity in the middle of the park was a major reason why Everton were able to pick up the three points on his first Goodison Park appearance.

And Marcel Brands must already be feeling very satisfied with the deal he completed to bring Delph to Merseyside.
