Ezri Konsa has labelled ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Marcus Edwards as ‘Messi’ after footage emerged of the Sporting Lisbon player’s performances.
The 23-year-old posted footage of his recent performances on Instagram and in the comments section, he was praised by fans and players.
Edwards left Tottenham in 2019, where he joined Vitoria SC, but his performances landed him on the doorstep of one of Portugal’s biggest clubs in Sporting back in January.
It’s a great start to life in Sporting by Edwards because, after six league games this season, he has scored two goals and supplied the same amount of assists.
But his best moment, since leaving Spurs, came in the Champions League in midweek when he ‘stole the show’ to score and assist during his side’s 3-0 win over Europa League winners, Eintracht Frankfurt.
So, he wasn’t the only one enjoying his midweek because Tottenham also opened their account by beating Marseille 2-0 in north London.

REUNION WITH SPURS
Well, a reunion with Spurs could be on the cards on Tuesday night when Antonio Conte’s side travel to Portugal to take on Sporting.
Edwards will be hoping to show his former side what they are missing out on because this is the first time he will come up against them since leaving the club – and he will want to be handed a start.
When the thriving winger was at Tottenham, a lot was expected of the player, especially from Mauricio Pochettino.
But, for one reason or another, it didn’t work out, although, he is proving that you can still get up from the canvas and showcase your worth elsewhere.
