Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United reportedly look set to miss out on Chelsea forward Timo Werner to RB Leipzig.
Arsenal and Newcastle United linked with Timo Werner
According to a report in iNews last month, Newcastle are keen on signing Werner from Premier League rivals Chelsea on a loan deal in the summer transfer window.
Defensa Central reported last month interest from Arsenal, Real Madrid and Juventus in the 26-year-old Germany international forward, who is “an extremely fast player”, according to comments from new Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno in Sky Germany in 2020.
RB Leipzig transfer
However, Fabrizio Romano is now reporting on Twitter that Werner is set to go back to his former club RB Leipzig.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that the Bundesliga club will secure the services of the German star on a permanent contract.

Werner joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020.
Much was expected of the forward at Stamford Bridge, but he struggled to score the goals that he used to in Germany.
The German has scored 10 goals and created 10 big chances in 56 appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea.
