Tony Cascarino says he finds the transfer rumours around Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris ‘extraordinary’.

The former Republic of Ireland international added that, if Hugo Lloris does make his expected exit this summer, then he feels it’s a ‘really bad ending’ for the 36-year-old, as he told talkSPORT.

There is talk that three clubs have submitted bids for the goalkeeper, whose contract at Tottenham expires next summer, whilst Guglielmo Vicario’s arrival signals the start of a new beginning at Hotspur Way.

Ever since Spurs secured Lloris’ talents for £12 million (BBC Sport) back in 2012, he has been the number one at the club.

The longest-serving player and a key reason why Mauricio Pochettino continually kept the club in the Champions League places.

But all of that is now coming to an end and Cascarino thinks something has gone on behind the scenes.

“One transfer that has been rumoured, and I find it extraordinary, and I spoke about this at the end of the season when Spurs went to Newcastle and lost 5-1,” said Cascarino.

“Hugo Lloris didn’t appear for the second half of the game and I said ‘look, something has gone on in that dressing room’. I can’t prove it.

“But from what’s happened from that moment on, he hasn’t played. He is the captain of the football club. Rumoured that his time at Spurs is literally done. He hasn’t travelled with Spurs on pre-season.

“It feels like this is a really bad ending for Hugo Lloris at Spurs.”

Nightmare final game

It was the right time for Spurs to move Lloris on because for far too long now, his form had gone out of the window, not forgetting the constant mistakes he was making under Antonio Conte.

But it’s a nightmare ending because the final game of his career at Spurs is that humiliating 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

Lloris was subbed during that game but it was because of an injury, or so that is what is reported by the club, so you have to take their word, even if Cascarino has his doubts.
