Ronald Araujo rejected Liverpool transfer chance
Catalan newspaper SPORT now claim that both Liverpool and Chelsea offered Araujo big money to leave Barcelona last year.
Araujo was given the chance to make a huge Premier League move, with Liverpool seemingly viewing him as the ideal partner for Virgil van Dijk.
It’s suggested that Araujo is ‘very grateful’ to Barca for the chance they gave him and his emotional pull convinced him to stay.
That meant Araujo penned a new contract and Barcelona are expected to offer him even better terms very soon.
The report adds that the feeling inside Barcelona – both in terms of the organisation and the dressing room – is that Araujo will become Barcelona captain.
Sergi Roberto currently serves as Barcelona skipper with Araujo the club’s third captain right now, but he is expected to land the armband sooner or later.
