Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United could be about to beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to the signing of Napoli central defender Kim Min-jae.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with Napoli and South Korea international central defender Kim Min-jae.

Kim is one of the best players in the Italian top flight and has just helped Napoli win the Serie A title this season.

The 26-year-old is rated very highly, with former United and South Korea star Park Ji-Sung telling TMW that he is “extraordinary”.

French news outlet FootMercato reported only last week that Liverpool, United and Paris Saint-Germain all are keen on signing Kim in the summer of 2023.

The report claimed that the Red Devils were “rushing” to get a deal done with Napoli.

And now it seems that United could be able to get their target.

Liverpool about to miss out on Kim Min-jae to Manchester United

Naples-based Il Mattino are now reporting that Kim has been “convinced” by the offer from Manchester United.

The defender has reportedly decided to “accept” United’s offer, and only now some details need to be sorted out.

Kim has a release clause of €60 million (£53 million) in his contract at Napoli, and you would think that United would pay it.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool now step up their pursuit of the defender and make an offer of their own.

The defender has made 33 appearances in Serie A for Napoli this season.

Kim scored two goals and gave two assists in those games.
