Garth Crooks has included Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week for his performance against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League at the weekend.

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward believes that Zinchenko, who can operate as a left-back or as a midfielder, has been “extraordinary” for Arsenal since his move from Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

The BBC Sport pundit believes that the 26-year-old Ukraine international has a “lethal left foot”.

Arsenal beat Villa in the Premier League this past weekend to enhance their chances of winning the title this season.

Zinchenko scored one of the goals.

Praise for Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko

Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “Zinchenko was involved in almost every Arsenal move that resulted in a chance – he was literally popping up everywhere. Arsenal are having an extraordinary season and so is the Ukrainian.

“Since he arrived at the Emirates his performances have been outstanding. Zinchenko had an opportunity to use his lethal left foot earlier in the game but, for some reason, chose not to.

“However, when he did let fly, the ball arrowed past Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal and set up the Gunners for a famous victory. It was, without doubt, Arsenal’s best away performance this season.”

Big player for the Gunners

In our view, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been brilliant for Arsenal so far this season and has established himself as an important player in manager Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Ukrainian helps Arsenal play in a different way to how the Gunners operate when Kieran Tierney starts.

Zinchenko is able to move into midfield from left-back and made the Gunners better in the middle of the park.

In our view, for Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season, Zinchenko will have to be on top of his game in the coming weeks and months.
