Sevilla defender Tanguy Nianzou is already a target for Serie A giants Inter Milan after turning down summer moves to Premier League duo Fulham and Southampton, according to FC Inter News.

Following a summer in which even Sevilla’s much-heralded sporting director Monchi has come under fire from frustrated supporters, a former Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain starlet already feels like a rare ‘hit’ in a sea of misses.

Stepping into the shoes of Jules Kounde was never going to be an easy task. Kounde established himself as one of the world’s premiere defenders before his £41 million move to Barcelona.

But fellow Frenchman Nianzou, after a rather inconsistent start, has emerged as a ray of sunshine cutting through the dark clouds hanging over Sevilla’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.

The Andalusian outfit conceded only three goals in the four games before he was struck down by a calf strain; Nianzou capping a superb performance in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund with his first goal for the club.

According to BILD reporter Christian Falk, Fulham and Southampton both tried to sign the rangy 20-year-old before he swapped Munich for Seville in a £17 million deal three months ago. It’s testament to how far he has come in such a short space of time on Spanish soil, then, that Nianzou already finds himself on Inter Milan’s shopping list.

The 2021 Serie A champions, however, seem destined for disappointment. Sevilla have no plans to cash in on Nianzou. They only recently tied the France U21 international down to a long-term contract which runs until the summer of 2027.

“A very good character,” Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann said of Nianzou before his summer switch to Sevilla. “He throws everything (into the game). He has unbelievable aggressiveness and a winning mentality that is extraordinary.”

Both Fulham and Southampton, meanwhile, have conceded more than 20 goals during their first 13 games of the new Premier League season. The Saints, at least, have Armel Bella-Kotchap back in training after a recent injury scare.

It remains to be seen, however, if he is fit to feature against in-form Newcastle United this weekend. Ralph Hasenhuttl could certainly do with Bella-Kotchap back in action. Especially with Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson in such supreme form.
